Edward Carpenter will stand as The Green Party candidate for the Luton South and South Bedfordshire constituency.
On the appointment, Edward said: 'I am honoured to have been chosen as The Green Party’s candidate for Luton South and South Bedfordshire.
'It’s well known that The Green Party stands up for the environment.
'But what people are now starting to realise is that The Green Party is just as passionate about creating a healthier, fairer and more hopeful society for everyone.
'We have the people, the ideas and the policies to bring the real change that our country needs.
'The principles of justice and sustainability drive us.
'We believe that current politics is outdated and failing everyone, and we are proud to offer a different way of doing things, with integrity and fairness.
'Britain can do better and now we need voters to join in and support us.'
The Green Party
'The Green Party is growing rapidly,' Edward continues.
'We’ve recently seen a surge in our electoral successes as voters recognise that The Green Party has the most complete plan to tackle the major challenges we face.
'For example: a fairer tax system, asking only the super-rich to pay a tiny 1% more tax, would allow us to dramatically improve the NHS and social care, benefiting millions of ordinary citizens.
'Investing in greener energy and green jobs, which we must do to avoid climate disaster, would also increase the energy-efficiency and warmth of our homes as well as lower our fuel bills.
'These are win-win policies.
'They're absolutely achievable when we commit to being both fairer and greener together.
'The problems that so many in Luton face, like transport chaos, cost-of-living struggles, poor air quality and under-funded public services, can all be tackled with the fairer, healthier, more sustainable policies of The Green Party.
'We also stand stronger on human rights and justice abroad too.
'The Green Party calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a ban on UK arms exports to Israel, and an end to the occupation of Palestinian Territories. As well as the unconditional release of hostages.
'The more difference we can make'
'The more successes we have, the more difference we can make.
'And every single voter can be a part of the real change that’s needed by voting for me, Edward Carpenter, The Green Party, on 4th July.
'Together we can do it!'
